About Us

More than 33 years of delivering
local seafood to the world

Galaxidi Marine Farm is situated close to Galaxidi at the Prefecture of Fokida. Surrounded by the northern coast of the Corinthian Gulf, it is a historical, nautical town with a strong maritime history.

Established in 1987, Galaxidi Marine Farm, is the lifework of Nancy Panteleimonitou, who has dedicated her career in producing and exporting top quality fresh fish to the world.

Nancy, a well-respected figure among her peers, her colleagues and the people of Galaxidi, is considered the first lady of aquaculture.

It was 1987, when the Norwegian company MARINE FARM ASA asked her to find in Greece, suitable places for aquaculture. So, right from the very beginning, her intuitive and curious mind had led her in discovering such areas around Galaxidi. Nancy became the CEO of the new company.

In 1995, when the partners decided to leave Galaxidi Maritime, Nancy accepted the challenge and was happy to take over and run the business.

33 years now, her passion and devotion to fish farming, has made Galaxidi Marine Farm an exemplary fish farm, operating with a strong team of scientists and local people.

She, is indeed, a self-made business woman but above and before all, she is a humanitarian, a mother figure supporting the local community with the majority of employees coming from the greater area of Galaxidi.

Nancy loves her job.
And when you love what you do, when you find your calling, you are only bound to succeed and exceed your dreams and expectations.

“The family spirit of the company is what always keeps me in a state of passion“

We keep on learning | R&D

Research and technology at the service of quality

With science at the forefront, investing in research is crucial not only for the business itself but also for sustainable development.

We are a pioneer in being one of Europe’s leading companies in utilising the latest technologies in production methods.

In collaboration with Greek and foreign universities and research centres, through EU and state subsidised programs as well as our own participation, we invest in improving equipment and in developing innovative fish production and fish population management techniques.

Further development of management systems and continuous investment in the quality of our product are at the heart of our activities. We believe in continually improving our processes through learning.

The Research and Development Department deals with the following programs.

Our Production Facilities

We have two hatchery sites which are equipped with water treatment facilities, automatic tanks’ oxygenation & feeding systems, innovative fish graders/counters and fish pumps. One of the hatcheries is Organic and certified in accordance to the requirements of European legislation.

Our six cage farm units are situated in areas with depths of between 40 and 150 meters, with HDPE floating cages from 50-100m circumference and high module nets. All farms are operating with automatic feeding systems on barges and boats, graders/counters, fish pumps, vaccination systems and environmental monitoring equipment.

One of the above cage farm units is the Organic farm, which operates in a similar way to nature, simulating the wild fish habitat. All organic production is certified in accordance to the requirements of European legislation and NATURLAND standards.

Our packing and processing station of end product, which recently was expanded and reconstructed, is designed to the latest EU specifications.
It is equipped with state of the art automated production systems, including 3 weighing & batching lines, ice production & dosing systems, palletizing machines, gutting & filleting lines, foreign objects management systems (metal detector, X-rays inspection) and personnel hygiene equipment.
Furthermore in order to assure the final product quality, there is an internal laboratory, conducting quality controls on daily basis.

The historical town of Galaxidi

Naval tradition, seamanship & natural beauty

A prominent shipbuilding centre during the 19th century, Galaxidi is a charming and tranquil nautical town surrounded by nature. Past the ancient site of Delphi and below the breathtaking mountains of Fokida, Galaxidi unfolds its historical significance and stunning beauty along the Gulf of Corinth. Narrow cobblestone streets, gardens with colourful shrubs and bright bougainvilleas, old captain mansions with impressive facades, traditional fishing boats and sailing boats make up for a vivid scenery, a witness to past glories of seamen and a sign of a town that takes pride in its own heritage. The old harbour of Galaxidi, Hirolakas, is the shipbuilding centre of the past, while the main harbour along the promenade hosts a number of small cafes, bars and fish restaurants. On the opposite side of the harbour, a beautiful forest lies along a stretch of pebbled cove beaches Galaxidi is an all year-round destination and an ideal getaway for visitors from around the world.
